Not sure if you have heard the rumours, but Tribe is in serious financial trouble. The revenue streams from Google ads have not been
enough to support the operations of Tribe. You may have noticed increased outages and downtime due to this.
I love Tribe. I think it is the best content-driven community web site. I loathe Facebook and MySpace (my perogative). I am even willing to pay
and monthly fee of $5 per month to keep Tribe alive. I don't know if that would be enough.
Some of the Tribes I moderate and participate in are part of my daily life.
I have met some quality people on Tribe and interacted in communities
around the world.
Here is a posting by the Tribe folks regarding keeping Tribe alive.

Re: Tribe may be dead, help keep it alive
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 12:12 AMContent-wise, Tribe rocks. Technology wise, it seems they jumped off a cliff.
Truly sad, but as I said in (my only?) a blog post, don't let the interns write production code. -

Re: Tribe may be dead, help keep it alive
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 4:45 PMTribe is not in financial trouble. They aim to roll out tribe 3.0 later this year. Tribe is not a rocking and rolling corporate entity, to be sure. But they're not about to start panhandling.
1) Stop spreading rumors.
2) What does this have to do with the 1980s?
